The main results of BALTREL's work are being published as reports and position papers and are available on these pages
BALTREL has conducted two major studies since the middle of the 90`s: "Baltic Ring Study" 1996-1998 and "Baltic Ring Study Phase II" 1999-2002. In addition, BALTREL has conducted a study together with Baltic Gas, " Gas and Electricity in the Baltic Sea Region". All these studies were co-financed by the European Commission.
The First Study concentrated on technical analysis of the electricity system around the Baltic Sea and the needs and requirements of new transmission links and interconnections.
The Second Study concentrated more on market and environment related issues to develop Common Electricity Market around the Baltic Sea region. Also general instructions for planning and operation of grid were prepared to be used as reference when national Grid Codes are developed further.
As of 1999 an Annual Report is published annually. The Report contains a general describtion of BALTREL 's work and achievements, as well as Country Reports describing the general electricity market situation and development in each Country. There is also a statistical part, where electricity production, consumption and capacity are figured, as well as grid development.
